If you've been following this new blog, you'll know that my favourite favourite project right now is my Candied Hexagons quilt. I mentioned it in a recent post but if you want to know more about this Hexalong, visit Lily's Quilts.
I am continually inspired by the creativity of everyone in this Hexalong. There's so much variety in the fabrics and colours used. You can see all the latest Hexalong photos (including mine) here.
The great thing about Candied Hexagons is that no two blocks are the same. You mix and match hexagons, half-hexagons, triangles, diamonds, basically any shapes that fit together.
Now I'm sure that the last thing you want to do when you're excited about a new project is spend your time cutting out your paper pieces. So I've put together a Candy Pack containing all the following:
100 x 1" hexagons
100 x 1" diamonds
100 x 1" triangles
100 x 1 1/2" hexagons
100 x 1 1/2" diamonds
100 x 1 1/2" triangles
Yes that's 600 pieces in the Candy Pack. All pieces are die-cut by me myself and I, so you get to choose from paper pieces or card pieces. I'm giving away two packs, one to the first Australian entry drawn and one to the first International entry drawn. Shipping included.
Leave a comment on this blog (about anything you like) before 9pm (Sydney time) Friday 19 August. Only one entry per person please. (If you want to stay private, you're welcome to email me an entry.)
If you're interested in maybe purchasing a Candy Pack, I've listed them here in my store at a 20% discount compared to buying each shape/size individually.

Giveaway 1 - Winner 9
Tomorrow night is the last night of my first giveaway.
Don't stress - I already have my second giveaway planned! I just need to drag myself away from my Hexalong project long enough to make it. (Hint - it is Hexalong related.)
So far I've been making my Hexalong (Candied Hexagons) quilt from these aqua blues and sea greens from the Fandango range by Kate Spain for Moda. Plus a few reds from my stash.

Today I received a parcel containing these other colours from the Fandango range. I can't wait to use them!

I'm also excited about trying some challenging blocks posted by Lynne from Lily's Quilts here.
But before I go, I need to tell you tonight's winner of the giveaway.
It's one of my Forum friends, Liz from Canberra, Australia. Congratulations!

Giveaway 1 - Winner 8 - and my current project
Have you ever seen a quilt that you absolutely positively no-doubt-about-it have to make?
When I saw this quilt a couple of weeks ago, I was instantly smitten. I cut my papers immediately, opened my never-been-used fabric glue pen, and life has not been the same since.

The Candied Hexagon quilt has been around for a few years, but this one by Lizzie Broderie is just so yummy. Whenever I look at it, I see something new. Also check out the amazing circular blocks that she has pieced. Her use of colour, her fussy-cut fabrics and her amazing skill and neatness are a real inspiration.
Luckily, I wasn't the only one who fell in love with this quilt. Lynne from Lily's Quilts has been posting patterns, Gayle Brindley has been keeping us in the mood with the prettiest blocks, and they're both helping us out with tutorials covering everything from the basics of english paper piecing to how to design and sew blocks with curved pieces.
For more inspiration, visit the Lily's Quilts Flickr page. (Warning: you will NOT be able to resist joining in.)
But before you do, join me in congratulating tonight's winner of the giveaway, Paul from Ohio. Congratulations Paul!
PS There are still two more draws to go. To be in the running, go to http://pbpatch.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-first-blog-day-3-its-time-for.html.

Giveaway 1 - Winner 5
I wish I could call today the 32nd of July. That way I wouldn't feel so bad about being late finishing my July swaps.
One hexie flower done and another to go. I hope my partner will like these pretty little florals.

And 5 giveaway draws are done with 5 more to go.
Tonight's winner is QuiltKitty from Perth, Australia (who must be a very busy lady if her blog is anything to go by). Congratulations QuiltKitty, would you like some paper or card hexagons for your Vignette Quilt, or something else for a new project?
Back to my stitching now, and back here tomorrow night for draw 6. Bye!

Giveaway 1 - Winner 3
It's another short post tonight. I've just come home from a lovely (but long) day giving craft lessons to friends of a friend. It's the first time I've given lessons in at least 10 years.
Some people wanted to learn how to make bottle-cap necklaces, others wanted to do dog-tag pendants, and others were keen to do patchwork. We ended up doing everything! Hence, the very long day.
It was nice to be able to provide "the students" with my die-cut paper hexagons and fabric hexagons. It meant we could get straight into stitching, and everyone went home with a completed hexagon flower. A nice accomplishment for just one lesson.
Speaking of hexagon flowers, Janet from Canada (who happens to be one of my partners in the Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap) has won tonight's draw, and I'll be sending her 2 packs of my die-cut paper hexagons to help her flower garden frow.
Congratulations Janet!
See you all tomorrow night for the next draw. Existing entries are still in the draw, and new entries are welcome. 7 nightly draws still to go, enter at http://pbpatch.blogspot.com/2011/07/my-first-blog-day-3-its-time-for.html.

My first blog - day 3 - It's time for a giveaway!
It's day 3 of my blog already and it's time for a giveaway, don't you think? Plus, I'd like to introduce my online store, Possum Blossom Patchwork.
I make die-cut paper pieces for English paper piecing. You know, hexagons, triangles, diamonds and the like. I make them from paper, card, freezer paper, whatever you like. Die-cut paper pieces are a cost-effective and time-saving option.
I also have an electronic cutter which allows me to custom-make any shape in any size, so if you don't see what you need in my store, just email me and ask.
I'm located in Sydney, Australia but international orders are no problem at all. If you prefer to order through Ebay or Etsy, I can handle that too.
That's enough about me, let's get to the giveaway. I'm not exactly sure if there's a right way to do this so I'm going to keep it simple.
Basically, each night for the next 10 nights starting tomorrow night (28/07/11 Sydney time) I'll draw a name. Each winner can select any two packs of die-cut or e-cut paper pieces or card pieces from my store (100 pieces per pack, you choose the shape/size). Open to everyone including international. Free shipping included.
1. Visit my online store and have a look around.
2. Post a comment on this blog saying which two shapes/sizes you'd like to win (either a pack each of 2 items, or 2 packs of one item).
3. For an additional entry, post a separate comment telling me which shape/size you'd like me to make and add to my store. (Be creative! Set me a challenge!)
4. And if you want to follow my blog, mention that too for a third entry.
Names/comments will be placed in a box and one will be drawn at random each night. Non-winning names will remain in the box until the end of the giveaway, so if you write a comment before the first draw that means you'll get 10 chances to win. Or 20 chances. Or 30 chances.
Oh, and remember to tell me how to contact you. If I can't contact you, I'll draw another name at the end of the giveaway.
Good luck!
P.S. Is there anything I've forgotten to mention? If so, email me.

My first blog - my first post
Welcome to my first blog. I'm so happy it's finally here!
I guess this is the spot where I tell you a little about myself and my blog. Hmmm, let me see ...
I guess it will just be craft, craft, and more craft (and maybe occasionally a YouTube video that's just too hilarious to keep to myself).
I do quite a few different crafts but I always come back to patchwork - mostly hand-pieced patchwork. It's my passion, my entertainment, my addiction and my therapy, all rolled into one.
I'm a great believer in finding the easiest, quickest way to do something, so I'll be posting links for you whenever I find great tutorials, and I'll be letting you know about some great time-saving products that I make for my store.
Oh, and my name is Joanne. Welcome everyone!
I guess this is the spot where I tell you a little about myself and my blog. Hmmm, let me see ...
- I am not not not NOT going to talk about my day job. (No, it's not top secret classified, it's just not interesting.)
- I'm single and quite shy (ok I admit it, very shy) so you won't hear much about myself or family.
- I'd much rather stay home and be creative than travel and be adventurous, so there won't be loads of fabulous photos of exotic locations.
